I’m taking on a customer project to engine swap a Volvo 240 restoration project.
The guy had a Volvo 240 Turbo that he had restored about 12 years ago, and he daily drove it. Well, the Wisconsin winters rotted the body away. The owner’s been working with a body shop to “restore” it again - in this case to take a rust-free Southern N/A Volvo 240 and convert it to be his old 240 Turbo. So far, that’s involved swapping the entire roof (N/A was a fixed roof, Turbo was a power moonroof), all the doors (N/A was manual, Turbo was power), and the entire interior.
Now, it’s time for the old N/A motor to come out and make room for a freshly rebuilt Turbo motor. Since the guy doing the work is a body guy, I’m taking on the mechanicals.

Oil change on the daily, probably. Also using thinwall PVC to mock up all the pieces for my pseudo-cage and working on the front valance some.
I might get around to making the lid for my dad’s bearproof garbage box too.

I’ve got a charity walk that benefits ALS early Sat morning, then I plan to be bum. There is some talk about going to see a dog that is up for adoption but that is questionable at the moment. Sunday we run errands and do stuff to the house because everyone else is watching football.

I just got VAG-COM from Ross Tech, so I’ll probably try to diagnose the ABS issue on my fiancee’s bug. Maybe try to program one of the remotes from her previous bug to work with this one. She only has one key, so at least another remote to unlock it would be nice. It’s always something with that car.

Hopefully going to the local cars and coffee that's about two miles from me. I have yet to make it to one, unless you count last month when I pulled in, got out of my car and basically immediately left. I had family in town and had to meet them for breakfast before they went to the airport.

Replacing the timing chain tensioner in my wife’s Hyundai. Good on hyundai for using chains on their i4s, right? Except their flimsy system needs to be serviced just as often, and it’s a huge PITA to remove the timing cover. Need to remove all accessory pulleys and an engine mount. Did I mention I’m doing it in a parking lot?

We’ll see if it actually happens. I’ve been trying to put a deal together with my buddy who has owned it since ‘02 for a few weeks. Supposedly it’s happening tonight ... but I’m not holding my breath.
Not that I’m complaining, he’s a retired auto shop teacher who is still working on it to “get it ready” for me. He’s spent a lot of hours working on a car he’s selling me for $1500.

The only thing I was able to do with mine was part them out to help friends. The power supply from one went to Colorado, one Blu-Ray drive went to Pennsylvania and the other to Illinois.
